guide is intended for new fornixhost users
and highlights the major points regarding the use of our service.
Account Activation Notice
You should have received an account activation notice by email,
if you have not received yours, please
contact support before continuing. Your account activation
notice contains the username, password and hostnames that
you will need to use our services. Please keep this information
safe and have it to hand when contacting us for any reason.
Control Panel
Central to all our our hosting plans is our control panel,
from which you can manage all aspects of your account and
view support documentation specific to your hosting plan.
The control panel can be found
here, login with the username and password from your activation
notice.
Your

or http://cp.your_domain_name.com
Email
Initially, no email options are configured. You can create
mailboxes and change your email routing options via your control
panel.
Accessing
A Mailbox
To collect email from a POP3 account you need to configure
your email program correctly. The settings you need to configure
are as follows.

SMTP mail server of Internet Service Provider (ISP) that
you use to connect to the Internet. This information can

username for a mailbox can be obtained from the Mailboxes
page of the control panel. |

Password |
The
password you specified when creating the mailbox |

From
Address |
This
is the address shown in the 'from' field of messages that
you send. You should specify your new email address at
your domain (i.e. yourname@domain.co.uk) here in order
to present the most professional image. |
WebMail
The service can be accessed at
http://webmail.yourdomainname or
http://webmail.fornixhost.co.uk , login with your mailbox
username and password (note that your mailbox username and
password is not the same as your account username and
password.) Please be aware that as part of our system
maintenance, designed to ensure continuous provision of high
quality service, read messages more than one month old and
unread messages more than 3 months old are removed from your
mailbox. Therefore if you need to keep messages for a long
period of time you should still download them to your system
using your mail client or the download facility within the
webmail application.

How
you configure these settings in your mail client will vary
slightly depending upon which program you are using. Consult
the documentation for your email software for more information.
Web
Site
You can upload your web site files by connecting to the FTP
server shown in your account activation notice using an FTP
client, login with your main username and password.
For Windows hosting the FTP server will be:

For Unix hosting the FTP server will be:
